Winding down
28 July 2016 |
|
As of April 2016 I'm effectively retired (well... semi-retired). As most of my clients already know I am continuing to make additions/updates to existing sites but I'm not taking on major rebuilds or new projects. My sincere thanks to all my current and previous clients for your business - I've really enjoyed working with you . |

Mobile-friendly websites
10 May 2014 |
|
People are increasingly using touch screen mobile phones and tablet PCs to search the Internet for products and services (currently around 40% according to my own visitor logs). It is therefore more relevant than ever that websites are created with such users in mind.
This site has now been redesigned accordingly. View it with your smart phone, or just narrow your browser on your PC to see the site adjust to the changing screen width.

Our DIY website system
9 November 2011 |
|
For those who are computer literate and web 'savvy', there are many packages available which will enable them to create and maintain their own websites - They don't need the services of a web designer.
Many more people, who wouldn't know where to start, generally turn to a web designer to create a website for them. However, when future content changes are required they have to pay the designer to update the site for them.
Our DIY websites are perfect for people between those two extremes. SandSoft will design and build the framework of the site, ensuring that it is search engine 'friendly' and W3C markup validated - We handle all the 'Internet' specific aspects for you. Then, through our new CMS (Content Management System), we make the main body section of each page editable by the customer using a WYSIWYG editor through a standard web browser. This system makes basic content changes easy for customers to carry out themselves and can greatly reduce the ongoing cost of operating a site.
Generally speaking, if you could create the equivalent of the page content you want in Microsoft Word™ then you can probably create the same (or very similar) website page content through our CMS. In other words our DIY websites require a reasonable level of computer/software competence but very little web design knowledge.
Please visit our Website Design page for more details, or contact us to discuss your requirements without obligation.

What's new at SandSoft?
25 October 2011 |
|
Well I finally got round to revamping my own website; about time too . Just as a mechanic often neglects his own car, I've been delaying reworking my own site for a long time. However, now seemed as good a time as any since I am now focusing more sharply on DIY websites where the owner can update the bulk of the page content themselves. In fact, this very site is based on the new DIY system!
This capability is requested more and more often so I have developed a simple but effective CMS (Content Management System), with a gentle learning curve, to provide this functionality - Please see our Website Design page for more details.
